Windows are the heart and soul of a building

The character and historic integrity of a building is strongly influenced by its windows and decorative features.  Windows crafted by early builders using old growth heartwood have already proven themselves throughout many generations.  Beneath peeling paint and damaged surfaces those windows can become as sound as when they were first installed.

We are passionate about our craft and our connection to those early builders

To recreate their original intent we preserve and restore the heartwood—still more stable and decay resistant than wood from trees harvested in the last 50 years.  We locate and select for our clients: salvaged wavy and striated glass, paint products, old growth lumber, chains and pulleys, lifts and locks, weather stripping, storm windows and more.  The result is a beautiful window that will continue to function for many decades to come, and add authenticity to your historic building.

Past meets present

Your old windows may be drafty, rattle or refuse to open, close or lock.  By combining historic materials with modern techniques, the annoyances of older windows can be eliminated.  Properly restored windows will offer a significantly longer life than a replacement window. Several independent studies have concluded that adding a storm window to your primary window can offer the same energy efficiency as double insulated glass.
